From MPR News: Twin Cities composer Stephen Paulus has died at 65. Paulus was among Minnesotas leading classical composers. He wrote hundreds of works -- including nearly 60 orchestral scores, 10 operas and 150 choral pieces. Paulus brought fresh perspectives to both arrangements and original compositions, Warland said. He knew the potential for vocal colors, extreme registers, you name it, he just had that skill to bring something that really became part of our diet, every concert practically. Greg Paulus said his father died at an assisted living facility from complications of a stroke he suffered last year. Huge loss to the Choral World. Take a listen to his works if you can my friends. I sang the work below in high school and it was one of my first challenges as a choral singer. Paulus was not only an extraordinary man of talent but also a man with a great amount of character. I met Mr. Paulus in Madison, Wisconsin in 2012 and his Oratorio To be Certain of the Dawn moved me more than any live piece of music (that I have not sung in) has ever touched me. Enjoy. Mr. Fellman
