Each of us, in childhood, writes a life-story for himself or herself. This story has a beginning, a middle and an end. We write the basic plot in our infant years, before we are old enough to talk more than a few words. Later on in childhood, we add more detail to the story. Most of it has been written by the age of seven. We may revise it further during adolescence. As grown-ups, we are usually no longer aware of the life-story we have written for ourselves. Yet we are likely to live it out faithfully. Without being aware of it, we are likely to set up our lives so that we move towards the final scene we decided upon as infants. This unaware life-story is known as the life-script. When we understand our life script we have the opportunity to transcend the beliefs and slogans that we have introjects do from our caregivers. Rita was told as a child, You are an idiot. You will never do well. Satish heard his parents say, Life is difficult. You will have to work really hard and even then you may not be successful. Arti heard, Try, try and you may still NOT succeed. These are introjections and they govern our life. What are your introjections? Do you feel they still govern your life? Our life script is devised on the basis on our early parenting. Till you decider these debilitating beliefs it becomes difficult to move ahead. I remember being told by everyone around me, You are the best. This put excessive pressure on me as a child. I felt I couldnt let my parents down. I had to excel. I worked hard but was always scared. I remember once stammering at a school concert, not because I didnt know the lines but was so nervous and anxious. I suffered from lack of confidence, inspite of being good. I cried on that day. My father said, Relax and enjoy what you do. It doesnt have to be good all the time. You are not a robot, dont behave like one. As a,parent we must be aware what and how we speak. Pause and notice what words you are using, for it could be creating your childs life script. Words must be spoke with wisdom for them to steer you to happiness. Begin writing your life script in a diary from the day you were born. It will give you much insight where changes have to be made. Awareness is the first step in transformation. My new workshop is going to be called Shabd Yoga- the wisdom in words. This workshop will enable you to translate the negative imprinting in to positive thought. The first session is in Kolkata and then in differnt cities.
