Eagerly awaiting the latest dispatch direct from Athens of Kevin Ovenden on Left Flank. He’s been a model of informative, well-sourced, friendly but critical and optimistic journalism to date. My first thoughts are that for a while 149 Syriza deputies [or thereabouts] in a parliament of 300 will constitute a majority in their own right if the rules are that you only need a majority of those voting. I’m assuming that for a while there will be abstentions in parliamentary votes – even perhaps all 15 MPs of the sectarian Stalinist Greek Communist Party. Assuming also that Syriza stays together. So much to await … Anyway on this day of high elation awaiting informed reports from inside the victory …
