Earlier this week, both the eastern and the western fleets successfully completed TROPEX-2014 (Theatre-level readiness and Operational Exercise), the Indian Navys largest of its kind exercise in the past two years. Over 60 ships and submarines and 75 aircrafts participated in the month long exercise conducted in the Indian Ocean. This years exercise also witnessed maiden participation of the recently acquired P8I maritime reconnaissance aircraft and also the Hawk fighter trainer aircraft. I am delighted to see the efforts of the Indian Navy fighting some difficult incidents in recent times and looking forward to develop a strong force base.
