Earlier today I received a message from a friend and he pretty much freaked out from what hes been seeing in Vietnam lately. Hes new in town though. I understand bad things happen but this is just a bit outrageous so I decided to share with yall to see what you guys think. Khang, I am really scared. I really dont know which type of Vietnamese you are but what I am seeing every day is really disgusting. No human rights are respected here and there is too much violence. I am shaking now. An accident just happened in front of my place. A body covered in blood is just under my window. And whats bad is that there is no ambulance coming, and probably they would never come. In 20 days I saw from my window a couple fighting twice. The woman was creaming, and shouting, and throwing bottles out of her window and her kid was just sitting there crying. I also saw another fight in the city centre, plus a boy crashed into my bike just yesterday, and the prostitude situation I see every day in front of my house. Plus there might be someone that tried to break into my room last night. Plus all the noise. I cannot rest and I am just exhausted now. Im sorry Im telling you all of this now but again it is impossible to sleep. [...] I have never seen such a thing in my life. Im sorry you have to hear it but seeing a man bleeding on the street and no one came to help makes me feel really sick. I hope you can understand my feeling Here is my response to his long message: I understand your feeling. I personally do NOT think it is Vietnamese stuff. I agree there is a big part of Vietnamese people that are not very civilized and well-educated, plus the system (including health care) sucks, that lead to those horrible things that you have witnessed recently. But trust me, the Viets are not mean or aggressive by nature. It was just a few of them being stupid. [...] I also suggested him change his place. Hes probably just unlucky and happens to live in a wrong area. But have anyone of you ever witnessed such a thing that is just unbearable, or shocking, or any kind of that stuff? Please share.
