Earlier today I thought that I saw the big Jamaican Reggae star Sizzla Kilongi from a distance disappear into the lobby of the hotel that I am staying in. We are both here in Gambia for the Roots International Festival. When I saw him I said to myself, Darn it! I really would have liked to have met the brother. Well this afternoon I saw him again and he saw me at the same time. He was with a crowd of people, including a group of Gambian soldiers who acted as his bodyguard. When he saw me he literally ran from both the crowd and the bodyguards and ran to me, grabbed both my hands and shouted Pappa! It was a big deal. Then he shouted to his entourage Get the CD! Get Pappa the CD!!! So we talked for a while, shook hands a long time, took a bunch of photos together and he presented me his new CD . He kept saying Take another photo! Take another one! Take another one! I told him how much I loved his music and apparently he felt the same about my work. And the crowd of people just ate it up! It is something that I will remember for a long time.
