Earlier today we did a memory test. I asked the question.....how many 100 degree days did we have in the summer of 2011? The correct answer was ZERO. We did not have a single 100 degree day officially recorded at the Medford National Weather Service office in 2011. That set us up for a near record breaking run of 733 consecutive days between 100 degree temps being recorded in Medford. We got to 99 several times including a run of several days to start September in 2011, but we never got that last little bump to reach triple digits. That summer was also marked by the profound lack of fire activity in our area with the only major fire being the River Road Fire out near Rogue River. That fire was started as a result of a car dragging something and throwing sparks on I 5.
