Early this morning my sweet Grandmother (Maw Maw) Dorothy Lucile Hamby Nicholson went to heaven to be with her forever love, Bill Nicholson who passed away 2 1/2 years ago. She has been missing him so much. Our big family - 53 of us- got together at her home on Christmas Eve and surrounded her with love and hugs, great food and singing of carols. She was sitting in her comfy chair, having her picture made, hugging children and enjoying the last Christmas with all of us. She and Paw Paw created the traditions on Christmas Eve and she was watching all of us carry them out. She must have been proud .In the evening, On Christmas Day my family stopped by her home. She told me she was ready to see him - and I knew she meant Paw Paw. She told me she would miss me. I cried and she held me and told me she loved me and that it would be okay. She said she was ready to go. It was hard to leave that night because I saw in her eyes that she meant it. I will be traveling to Georgia for the funeral. Please keep our family in your prayers. I am sure I speak for all of us when I say that today we will be happy for her - and sad to see her go. Thanks to my Dad & Shelly and all my Aunts & Uncles who have taken turns checking in on her and caring for her and loving on her. She was able to die peacefully knowing we all cared so much for her. How wonderful !
