Easily the most accomplished movie director of the post-60s era, Martin Scorsese is an absolute joy when he talks about cinema. I started this book quite a while back and was on and off with my reading. In the last one month or so, I was more regular and was completing one chapter a day. Today, I am done with the book :) I am really going to miss it since I can’t seem to find any suitable replacement to fill up my post-dinner reading time. For somebody who has absolutely no background in theatre/drama, it comes as a real surprise that Scorsese has directed actors in some of the most memorable on-screen performances...be it Robert De Niro, Daniel Day Lewis, Jack Nicholson or Leonardo Di Caprio. Naturally, most of his movies are character-driven...rather than plot-driven. He is very self-effacing, without trying to be modest, and it is a pleasure to read him talk about his life and films.
