[East Coast Flood Response Updates 26/12/14, 9:00pm] HISTEAM and CREST are in collaboration to respond to East Coast flood which is worsening in Malaysia. Were working with several local partners and groups to serve those affected. Currently, the situation is still developing and meteorology dept has forecast further monsoon rain with strong wind from 29-31Dec in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor. We plan to respond in following stages. 1) Immediate medical supply. We are working together with a Malay group named East Coast Flood Relief Team (ECFRT, leader: Ally Hazran Hashim) for distribution of emergency relief items. Currently, were collecting medicines (panadol, ubat batuk) , diapers and dettol. The ECFRT is able to arrange airlift to Kota Baru via AA, TUDM & private heli. However, an 1-day operation is scheduled on 28/12 (Sun), heading to places accessible by road, toward Gua Musang, and East Coast. 2) Relief items Thousands of families are returning home when the flood recedes. Were collecting items like biscuits, water, personal hygiene products etc, for their immediate usage & consumption. Well distribute it via local partners or churches. 3) Cleaning operation Well mobilize volunteers to do house cleaning for victims, after the flood recedes. The details will be determined later. What can you do to help? 1) Pls pray for the safety of the victims and everyone involved. 2) Sign up to get involved as volunteers. We need manpower for various task forces at different time.
