East Kent Meeting Report Summer Championship Round 5 Parkgate MX 27/04/2014 After holding a practice day at Parkgate on Saturday, the East Kent boys & girls were definitely ready for racing come rain or shine! The Autos were up first & were ready to tackle the track after the earlier rain. Billy Moriarty carried on where he left off at the last meeting taking all three wins. Sonny May was thoroughly enjoying himself out there on the mud taking the second place finish in both moto 1 & 2, but bike trouble in the third meant he had to push his bike over the line & just got caught at the finish post by Harrison Bowles. Harrison had ridden consistently throughout the day for the 3rd spot in moto 1 & 2, but managed to race through the line to take 2nd in the last. The overalls were Billy in 1st, Sonny in 2nd & Harrison in 3rd. Well done boys. The Juniors put on a good show with some good battles going on throughout their races. There was no stopping Alfie Card as he has definitely found the throttle and wasn’t afraid to use it taking all three wins, Raife Broadley took the 2nd place finish in races 1 & 2, but had to settle for fifth in the last as the track conditions were “slippery” to say the least, which allowed Harvey Cashmore to step up & take the 2nd spot in the last! Beau Gosnell continues to improve week on week and took the 3rd spot in moto 1 & 2 but Ryan Nicholls after a great start had other ideas & took the 3rd finish place. The overall went to Alfie with Raife 2nd & Harvey Cashmore 3rd. The Seniors always give us some great racing & today was no exception. Connor Dennis despite winning both Moto 1 & 2 but difficult track conditions in moto 3 and a front puncture meant he couldn’t stay on his bike & had to settle for 4th. Joe Russell was having a ball in the dirt/mud to finish in 2nd place in Races 1 & 2, but again had to settle for 5th in the last. Jack Norman seemed to revel in the mud as his highest place had been 3rd up to moto 3 which he went on to win. Brad Robinson also loved the mud to finish 2nd in the last with both Tyler Keily & Peter Andrews getting a 3rd place finish apiece. The overall went to Connor, Joe took the 2nd step & Brad the 3rd. The Small Wheel riders were more than up to the task at hand. Ike Carter won the first two moto’s but had to settle for 2nd in the last. Ashley Surridge chased him the whole way but it was Billy Carter who took the 2nd spot in Race 1. Ashley finished 2nd in Race 2 but took the win in race 3. Harry Preston took the 3rd place finish in the first moto. But it was Kayden Algar who had made a welcome return to East Kent that showed the track suited his riding skills & on the bigger bike to take 3rd in both moto’s 2 & 3. Ike took the overall with Kayden in 2nd & Kyle MacGregor the 3rd. With nearly a full line up The AMX boys were on it. Rowan Hill visiting his old club took the first two wins of the day, but it was John Waghorne who after racing in the Open & AMX class & despite an off who took the 2 2nds & a 1st to secure the overall. Dan Guy racing on a borrowed bike also had a good day finishing in 3rd & 2nd in the last. Barry Hannan took 3rd in the second but Adam Hawkins despite racing back & forth to the tractor all day to help get stranded campers out of the paddock who took the 3rd place in the moto 3. He was obviously delighted with placing! It was John who took the overall, Dan 2nd & Iain Fraser 3rd on the day. The Big Wheels were having fun by the time they got to race 3 but Charlie Caudwell was determined not to let Tom Lockhart have it all his own way after a crash on the first corner saw a few bikes & riders having a quick “lie down”. Charlie took the win in race 1 but Tom was not happy with his 2nd place & flew out of the gate to take the two remaining wins. Charlie took the 2nd spot in race 2, but Freddie McPherson was up to the track conditions & took 3rd in the fits & 2nd in the last. With Thomas Nutley & Regan Brooks also claiming a 3rd finish each. The overall went to Tom, Freddie 2nd & Charlie 3rd. The Open had waited patiently until it was finally their turn to play in the dirt, Darryl Maxwell took the first two 1sts, but Mitchell Lewis making his debut in the east Kent Open Group, was flying! He finished 2nd in moto 1 & 2 & won moto 3. Junior Thomas, Tony Cuddy & Lewis Dowsett all took a 3rd place each, but the overall went to Mitch, Tony 2nd & Lewis the 3rd on the day.. Despite the elements being less than conducive to the track conditions. A big well done from all at EK to those of you who stuck around & went out there in block 3. You guys are the reason we all love our sport & finally a special mention to the boys & girls who came along to watch from the Valence School in Westerham. You were a pleasure to have around, even if you did have to be towed out! We hope to see you all again very soon.
