East Midlands police chiefs say police cars are regularly taking people to hospital now because theres not always an ambulance available to do the job. In Leicestershire, the chief constable says it happened nine times in one weekend and is nearly a daily occurrence. EMAS says its usually because theyre tied up with other emergencies but Derbyshires Chief Constable Mick Creedon says its got to be dealt with.
