EastEnders Charlie Cotton will finally accept his newborn son next week after a scare forces him to face up to his responsibilities. Charlie (Declan Bennett) has been struggling to cope since a car accident on New Years Day left his new wife Ronnie hospitalised in a critical condition. As Charlie continues to neglect looking after his son, he is forced to spring into action when he learns that the baby has gone missing. At the start of the week, Dot desperately tries to encourage an unresponsive Charlie to spend time with his son, telling him that Roxy has temporarily named him. However, Roxy and Charlie are given more bad news at the hospital when the doctor suggests that following a second failed attempt, they should start to look at the possibility that Ronnie may never regain consciousness. After unleashing his anger on Phils son Ben, Charlie is later left horrified when a panicked Aleks tells him that his daughter Ineta has disappeared and taken the baby. Upon hearing the worrying news, Charlies fatherly instincts immediately kick in and he springs into action, searching the Square looking for them. When they eventually locate the baby and Ineta, a relieved Charlie decides its time to take responsibility and finally brings his son home. EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday January 13 on BBC One.
