EastEnders has picked up the most soap nominations on the National Television Awards 2015 shortlist. The Walford drama has secured four nods in this years final round of voting, compared to three for Emmerdale and Hollyoaks and one for Coronation Street. EastEnders stars Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright, who play on-screen couple Mick and Linda Carter, will be facing off against each other in the Serial Drama Performance category. The pair will also face competition from former Emmerdale star Verity Rushworth and Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson, who both featured in big storylines as their respective characters Donna Windsor and Maxine Minniver last year. This years Newcomer category will be a battle between Casualtys Lee Mead (Ben Lofty Chiltern) EastEnders Maddy Hill (Nancy Carter), Emmerdales Michael Parr (Ross Barton) and Hollyoaks Cameron Moore (Cameron Campbell). As always, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are also in the running for the coveted Serial Drama gong. Unusually, Coronation Street does not have any individual cast nominees this year, as none of the names put forward in the longlist received enough public votes to make it through to the final shortlist. The news ends Corries three-year reign over the Serial Drama Performance award, which has most recently been won by Julie Hesmondhalgh (Hayley Cropper), Alan Halsall (Tyrone Dobbs) and Katherine Kelly (Becky McDonald). The National Television Awards will be held at The O2 in London on Wednesday, January 21 and will be broadcast live on ITV from 7.30pm. The final round of voting for the 20th National Television Awards is now open - fans can vote free online at nationaltvawards or vote by phone on 0901 888 2015.
