Ebola: Kaduna to reject corpses without certificate Henceforth, any corpse from outside the shores of Nigeria without certificate stating the cause of death would no longer be allowed for burial in Kaduna State, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tot Dogo has said. Dogo said the measure was part of steps by the state government to control the spread of the dreaded Ebola virus to the state but that the death certificate requirement did not apply to deaths recorded in the state. The commissioner said that the state had no control over the movement of foreigners into the state because it was the prerogative of the Federal Government to check foreigners’ movements but noted that residents of the state, especially the rural dwellers, would be strictly monitored by health officials put in place by the government for the purpose. He said that the state government had commenced campaigns to create awareness on the Ebola virus in order to prevent the spread of the dreaded disease. The commissioner, who spoke to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday, noted that apart from the provision of protective medical kits for health personnel, the state had also designated quarantine centres in the 23 local government areas as well as putting all the tertiary and primary health facilities in the state on the alert. “We in Kaduna State are not taking any chances. We are making necessary arrangements in all the tertiary and primary health centres to put them on the alert in case of any outbreak of Ebola,” he said. Copyright PUNCH.All rights reserved.
