Ecclesiastes 5 vs 4 -6 = When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the works of thy hands?= I wanted to talk to you today about how sacred God considers a vow. Many people make vows never taking them serious or at the time, they make them then trouble comes and they break their vows. There is no better illustration of this than marriage. The first thing is you should have been seeking God on who to marry before you entered it. Many marriages were put together by us and not God and we performed a religious ceremony not really understanding what we put ourselves into. If you are not serving God, it is not wise to say your vows unto him. you should change your vows considering the reverence of the Lord, knowing you are in error from the beginning. God considers a vow to be very sacred and not to be broken without a penalty. This is the reason when people make a vow unto God concerning marriage, when it is broken, they lose everything they have worked for. They really never considered who they had vowed to and why what has happened, did happen unto them. Your vows in marriage are not only unto God, which should be the strongest pledge or vow you could make, but they are also unto your spouse to be. Your vows say to death do we part, for in sickness and in health, for richer and for poorer, yet when trouble comes, you give in to your flesh, it causes you to sin against God. God has no pleasure in this, it will cost you something. It is the same with your tithes and offerings unto God. Many people think of this part of a service as if I desire to give mine I will, it`s no big deal. You are mistaken, this is your covenant with God and a part of your vow unto him. It is impossible to take part of a vow and leave the other part out. A vow has two sides and they are bound to agreement. In the new testament Ananias and his wife may a vow unto the Lord and then lied about it and it cost them their life. It is nothing to be taken lightly, it is not good to fall into the hands of a angry God. Anytime you promise or commit something unto the Lord you really need to think before you allow your mouth to overload your hind parts. Every vow is sacred and you can not get one thing without keeping the other. When you break a vow, you are heading for destruction and much trouble. Suppose God did not keep his vows with us, where would you be today? God is faithful even when we are unfaithful, and God is looking at the heart. I challenge you today if you are saved, you made a vow concerning tithes, concerning offerings, concerning any vow you make unto a Holy God. If you break your vow be prepared to pay a price. If you refuse to pay your tithes and offerings you have broken your vow already. It would be wise to repent and return unto God asking for his mercy. Your life will be in chaos until you come back in right standing with the Lord. He is not a respecter of persons, what he says to one he says to all. Repent and come back under the wings of the Almighty and it will go well with thee.
