Economic diplomacy – Broad participation of innovative French companies in the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas (January 6 to 9, 2015) The 48th edition of the Consumer Electronics Show, the world’s largest electronic show aimed at the general public, took place from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas. More than 120 French start-ups participated in the show. With a 33% increase in participation compared to last year, French start-ups were, for the first time, the second largest delegation after the United States. The show highlighted the creativity of French start-ups, notably in the areas of health and related products. The goal for French start-ups, supported by the Business France agency, was to establish technological partnerships as well as to secure venture capital in order to finance their growth and create jobs in France. These companies make a significant contribution to the creation of jobs and the internationalization of our economy. Our diplomatic network in the United States is mobilized to help innovative French companies and encourage American start-ups to set up in France. The NETVA (New Technology Venture Accelerator) helps French start-ups to enter the American innovation market. It will soon be extended to Canada. Other programs that we’re developing in the United States include the Young Entrepreneurs Initiative which has enabled 16 innovative American companies to establish operations in France. Under the French Tech banner, these companies form an integral part of France’s innovation ecosystem, which also brings together public and private sector research bodies, higher education institutions and technology transfer structures. “French Tech Ticket,” a new instrument for the most talented young foreign entrepreneurs, will be launched during the first half of 2015.
