Eddie Murphys Beverly Hills Cop 4 release date announced Beverly Hills Cop 4 will hit cinemas in 2016, it has been announced. Eddie Murphy will be back as wise-cracking cop Axel Foley for the fourth instalment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, with Jerry Bruckheimer on board as a producer. Paramount Studios has now confirmed that Beverly Hills Cop 4 will open in US cinemas on March 25, 2016. The upcoming sequel will be directed by Brett Ratner, whose box office hits in the past have included Rush Hour and The Family Man. Murphys involvement in the fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie came after a television series based on the franchise was shelved. CBS had been developing the project, but the Tiffany Network ultimately rejected the pilot in May 2013. The last Beverly Hills Cop movie was released in 1994 to mixed critical reviews.
