Editorial: National Dialogue with Strategic Skyline In the news, Sudanese political parties have welcomed the initiative launched by the government on the agreement on national issues and unification of the domestic front, an initiative headed by Presidential Assistant, Colonel Abdul Rahman Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, who will be conducting deliberations with Sudanese political parties. Democratic Unionist Party considered the initiative as a step in the right direction to resolve national issues and commended the government launching of the initiative which aims to unite the domestic front and declared his welcoming attitude towards any initiative leading to economic and political development in the country. National Umma Party also declared its readiness to meet with all political parties to come up with the best initiative and agree on it. Other parties also welcomed the initiative. When the stuck dust settles in the national arena atmosphere, and it will settle, the political forces will return to dialogue among themselves; but what kind of dialogue? We don’t want the dialogue to become just a tactical advocacy in standstill objective between two purposes either to contain both the opposition or to dismantle the regime. We want thorough dialogue over the strategic issues. For instance let us start with the relation between Sudan and South Sudan as an approach to the agendas of the strategic national dialogue. The relation with South Sudan is inseparable now and in the future, so we should deal with it in retail not isolated stances. We should deal with our relation with the South from tactical platforms to gain a limited political round. The dialogue we aspire is that which starts without preconditions and with good faith considering that it forms the only tool to unify the nation. Accordingly, those who advance themselves to the national dialogue arena should take off their violence robes and come to the spaciousness of the dialogue with open hearts and minds. The exchanged recognition is the core of any successful dialogue and without it there will be no respect to the dialogue outcomes and any commitment towards it. The exchanged recognition means respecting the applicable laws and readiness to avail the freedoms and bill of rights. The call of the national dialogue has acquired detailed content and self propelled a matter that makes it a way out from the congestion. We urge all political forces leaders to immediately involve in the issue and start serious steps towards a comprehensive conference.
