Editors Note: I just told Greg that the following makes him sound seriously batshit crazy. It has all the hallmarks of schizophrenic writing. Im too tired to edit him into something that sounds less madman; all of this really has happened as far as I can tell. Greg tells a consistent story, and whenever I meet people, they confirm rather than deny his facts. I asked myself, Self, what will you say to someone who asks, Rosa, why on EARTH have you not had this poor man committed? and then I said back, Well, Self, he does seem to be. telling the truth. So theres that. -- Rosa M.Q. ------------ In the course of writing this, Rosa (as my editor) asked me who I think my audience is, at this point. So I told her - President Barack Obama. One of two things is true, at this point in the narrative - either he knows who I am - by name - or he doesnt. Either way is bad news for someone. If he does, then all the surveillance fears are true. If he doesnt then all the security fears are true. Either way, hes in a double bind. In public. She also asked me why Im doing this on Facebook. Thats another post all to itself. ------------- stalling again, cause you all are so fascinating and have such great stories. And because this is the text of a letter I sent to Rep. Nancy Pelosis office. Here is where the rubber meets the road, kids. Some of you who might be reading this - my friends, and the people I grew up with - consider themselves part of the Tea Party, or belong to the Latter Day Saints. Or are disgruntled separatists. The kind of folk my friend David Gerrold categorizes as drooling banjo players. Now my friends who play banjo might take exception to that, but there it is. Torve has a psychopathic shadow, in modern film - Anton, in No Country For Old Men. Im gonna ask Jennifer Stacey Herold and her partner to testify to what I told them days ago, on one of Jennifers threads. I got here the same way the coin did. Lets be clear on the stakes here. We owe our lives, literally, to the Affordable Care Act. That means, in terms of power, we owe our lives to our representative - who happens to be Nancy Pelosi. So in terms of telling our story, thats a pretty good moral dilemma. Heres the letter, without any further comments. You be the judge. please? ----------------------------------------------------------- (reality breaks in at a fabulously dramatic time. Torve can only see it as coincidence.) Oops - I cant reproduce it. My form recovery system, Lazarus, has a 10 day purge and I didnt save it. So if you want the actual text, youll have to ask the representatives office for it. I sent her office this story, as of October 3, on October 3. Then I warned her why this was a political minefield. I told her my history of involvement with Democratic Party politics, and suggested some of her colleagues who could verify specific events. Those names include Senator Martin Heinrich and Eric Griego of New Mexico - I didnt mention that I had had a fascinating conversation - mostly anonymous - with the folks at the top of Governor Susanna Martinezs Department of Higher Education on a small plane flight, that began with a comment about tactical strollers. I blogged this at that time. (Lest the moveon.org folk get excited, these stories dont cast your early grassroots identity in a very good light.) They included names in social activism and Judaism like Rabbi Michael Lerner, Rabbi Arthur Waskow, and Rabbi Mordechai Leibling. They did not include names like Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, or Rabbi Min Kantrowitz, or Rabbi Reuel Karpov, Rabbi Geela Rayzel Raphael or Rabbi Bonnie Koppel. Or Lynne Iser, who was instrumental in developing the concept of spiritual eldering. Further back, the names included Neil Goldschmidt, and Representative Earl Blumenauer.I cited my CETA participation, but didnt cite the bosses who put up with and encouraged me: William Boyd and Marvin Hamm. Or Bills boss, Carl Jensen, who gave me a problem and thought I was hysterical. Or Carls boss, Ron Sonnerberg, who didnt like me one little bit. Or Mike Lindberg. Or former mayor of Portland Bud Clark, whose tavern we drank at, and who exposed himself to art. Or Toastmasters, or a host of other people who can be named as participants, including Lee Klingler and Greg Kurahashi, and Randy Tomzack. It didnt mention that I was a City of Lake Oswego planning commissioner, appointed by a Republican Mayor and City manager. It mentioned neither Susan Saxe, nor Susan Stern and the Seattle 7 - who are personal parts of my experiences that make this story. If you dont know who they are - or who Bernadette Dorn and Josephine Drexel Biddle Duke are, or Linda LeClair - check them out on my public links. Their stories are part of this, too. So are Plunky Branch and Kent Parker, and the Soul Syndicate, and ShaNaNa, and WKCR, Kings Crown Radio, and student broadcasting. So is Dr Frederick W Kantor - who taught me how to be real trouble in the Big Show. It doesnt mention the first woman crazy enough to marry me, Susan Kidd, or that we were married in the Columbia University Chapel. I contend that I am the Most Privileged Old White Man In The World. Which is something, considering that I share a birthday with Bill Gates. Harvard was founded that day, and a guy named Jamie deWolff was born, too. Its all just coincidence, really. Next up: an open letter to the Rev. Mark Jackson and the Warriors organization.
