Education, democracy and corruption are inter-linked. The ideal situation is when citizens are well educated to understand how democracy works. Such citizens elect a democratic government. Such Government works for the benefit of people. Corruption is kept under check because the press and the citizens keep a eye on how the Government functions. I read in todays newspaper two interesting items - The road are full of potholes because the politicians and officials take kickbacks. To accommodate kickbacks, contractors compromise on quality. There is a huge infrastructure building activity going on which requires sand. Sand is a public property. Two concerned citizens alert police of illegal sand mining. Their dead bodies were found near a sand quarry. Another news item of late has been whistle blowers in Government are victimized by politicians.
