Effective October 1, 2013, ML&P’s no-fee, credit-card-payment - TopicsExpress

Effective October 1, 2013, ML&P’s no-fee, credit-card-payment options are being discontinued. This includes recurring credit-card payments through the AutoPay by Credit Card Program and one-time payments by phone, in-person, by mail or online. For those customers who prefer the convenience of payment by credit card, ML&P is introduc¬ing a new, fee-based, credit-card-payment option. ML&P has arranged with Southeastern Data Co¬operative, a third-party payment processor, to process credit-card payments for ML&P customers. SEDC will assess a convenience fee of 2.45 percent of the payment amount for each payment it processes. The fee will be paid to SEDC to cover the costs of using the card. ML&P does not receive any portion of this charge. There will no longer be a limit of $5,000 for customers paying by credit card. ML&P will be able to accept credit-card payments, subject to the 2.45 percent SEDC convenience fee, by phone, through ML&P’s website and at an SEDC internet kiosk located in the ML&P Customer Service lobby. Some current AutoPay by Credit Card customers may have received information from ML&P indicating that beginning October 1, ML&P will automatically assess a 2.45 percent charge on recurring payments. This is incorrect. Customers who wish to continue recurring payments by credit card, subject to the SEDC convenience fee, will need to make arrangements to do so with a Customer Service representative in person or over the phone. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience our earlier correspondence may have caused. **ML&P has a variety of no-fee payment options, including a secure Electronic Funds Transfer Program.
