Egyptian vultures feed mainly on carrion (dead animals), but are opportunistic and will, if the opportunity arises, prey on small mammals, birds, and reptiles as well. Interestingly, they are one of the few birds in the world to be classed as ‘tool users’, feeding on the eggs of other birds, such as the ostrich, by using large stones to break open the thick shell.
