Eket leaders salute Akpabio over 2015 zoning The people of Eket Local Government Area have once again commended Governor Godswill Akpabio, describing him as a selfless and focused leader with a relentless commitment towards transforming Akwa Ibom and ensuring peaceful co-existence of the people of the state. The latest is from stakeholders in Eket under the aegis of Eket Local government leader’s council. Rising from an enlarged meeting during the week, the Eket leaders commended the governor for his selfless leadership qualities, noting that his focused determination towards transforming every segment of the state would continue to endear the people of Eket to his administration. In a message signed by the chairman of the body and former Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Chief Nduese Essien, secretary ObongIwaad Emman Mbong; the senator representing Eket senatorial district, Senator Helen Esuene; House of Assembly member, Hon. Anyang Akaimo Anyang; theb chairman of Eket local government council, Hon. Aniekan Akpan; the clan head of Idua, Obong E. C. D. Abia and twenty others. The leaders applauded the governor’ decision to support the wish of Akwa Ibom people to zone the governorship seat in 2015 to Eket senatorial district as expressed at Akwa Ibom House, Abuja, through the delegates to the recently concluded PDP national convention. The stakeholders noted that such display of political maturity and statesmanship by the governor clearly makes him out as a leader with a firm commitment towards justice, equity and peaceful co-habitation of the people of the state. They assured the governor of their readiness to work with other stakeholders in the senatorial district to ensure the emergence of a worthy successor to governor Akpabio in 2015. The Eket leaders also used the opportunity to express appreciation to the government of Chief Godswill Akpabio for the numerous people oriented projects his administration has extended to Eket and as well thanked the governor for finding their son, Chief Nduese Essien worthy to be nominated for the position of minister and also appointing other sons and daughters of the area into various political position in his government. The statement furthered that, “As a people, we have noted, with gratitude, the positive impacts of your administration on the entire state and Eket in particular. We are indeed proud to say that within the last six years, Eket Local Government has never had it so good, as we have benefitted in so many ways from your people-focused leadership style.” On the recent flag-off of dualization and construction work on Eket-Etinan road as well as Eket-Ibeno road, they noted that the gesture was a further confirmation of the governor as a promise keeper. Also present during the meeting were, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ememabasi Bassey; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Pastor Ita Umo Udo; Prof. Etie Ben Akpan; the senatorial chairman of PDP, Pastor Kennedy Akwaowo and Dr. Etuk Nsien Etuk, others include; Chief C. H. Isong, Chief Usoro I. Usoro, Pastor Godwin David, Mr. Essien Nduese, Obonganwan T. P. Enodien, Gen. Anthony Etukudo (Rtd.) and Mrs. Elizabeth Essien among others.
