Ekiti politics. Yeees!MOB,Still on the matter~AN OPENING/ DECLARATIVE ADDREESS FROM THE CHAIRMAN,COMMIT TEE ON LEGISLATIVE AND BUDGET AT NATIONAL ASSEMBLY. 2014: Bamidele declares for Ekiti guber …Says Tinubu, Akande didn’t endorse Fayemi for 2nd term Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Budget and Research, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, yesterday declared for Ekiti governorship race in Ado-Ekiti. Bamidele, fondly called MOB, pointed out that the meeting of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, held with Ekiti Governor last Wednesday was reported out of contest, saying that the party leaders, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande did not endorse Fayemi as reported in some national dailies. Addressing his supporters in Ado Ekiti at his new situation office on the platform of Ekiti Bibire Coalition, noted that the Asiwaju Tinubu he knows, would not do anything that would undermine democracy in Ekiti State. Bamidele, who was responding to the reported endorsement of Fayemi by national leaders of the party, said he cannot drop his political ambition on the premise of a stage managed report, pointing out that the report did not convey the real message the party leaders came to give the governor. “Nothing will deter me from contesting this part of honour. No human being will stop me from contesting the governorship election in 2014,” Bamidele said. He, however, made it clear that he has enormous respect for the ACN leader, under whom he served as Special Adviser and later as commissioner in Lagos State. He revealed that he worked very well with Tinubu to build the new Lagos State, adding that Tinubu who loves him as well will not come to Ekiti to stop him from using all God has endowed him with to develop Ekiti. “I will always respect my benefactor; and Senator Tinubu is my benefactor whom I respect so well, but Ekiti is first on my Agenda. But Tinubu that I know wants the best for Ekiti. If I could work for him for more than 11 years to make Lagos State a model, then I know he will want somebody like me to work with the people to make Ekiti a model.” “Nobody can stop me from contesting the governorship election. I cannot fight with Tinubu just like it is not compulsory that we should agree on everything at all times,” Bamidele said. The lawmaker, who will turn 50 on July 29, said he had decided to shelve his 50th birthday celebration in honour of Ekiti people, whom he said were still languishing in poverty, saying, “I cannot be celebrating birthday in the midst of poverty.” Speaking on the peace parley championed by Tinubu and Akande with Fayemi, Bamidele, said, “I was invited for the meeting but I got the text message late. And nobody can say he invited me verbally, or spoke with me on the coming meeting. But I’m not blaming anybody, for receiving the text message a day after the meeting.” He called on his followers not to ever engage in politics of violence with anybody, because he relies absolutely on God to fight the battle ahead for him. Bamidele made it clear that he doesn’t undermine relationship, saying, “Whoever I already know I don’t treat them as if I don’t know them again.
