El Dorado El Dorado, the magical golden city concealled by a waterfall and only accessable by boat. Every resident wears gold and praises the gods but non other than Tzekel Kan. A large stone stands before the waterfall which conceals the city with two gods sitting upon a horse. Tzekel Kan sits cross legged in his temple before a bubbling pool of green liquid while smoke billows in the air. In his temple, Tzekel Kan has a copy of the exact stone which stands at the enterance to the concealled waterfall. Tzekel Kans duty is to speak and act on the gods behalf which is the reason why he whurls his hands around in a fluttering motion. Tzekel Kan is the main leader of El Dorado with no woman leader. Except Roxie. She is Tzekels daughter but is too young to rule over El Dorado. Tzekel Kan has decreaded that she will take over when his time on this world is up. All Roxie will have to do is connect to the gods and speak and act on their behalf as Tzekel Kan has done for many years. For now though, Roxie spends her time in her temple, on her bed, constantly sighing and dreaming of something exciting to happen. The only time when shes allowed out of her temple is at ceremonial feasts or gatherings which dont happen very often. Hands behind her head as she lies back on the soft silk sheets and releases another sigh from her lips. Roxie bordem begins to overcome her. Shes taken up counting the number of stitches in the sheets to keep her occuipied but it doesnt last long. Her room is covered with gold: gold statues, gold plates and goblets. Even the material which acts as her curtains is gold. The only thing thats not gold is the silken sheets which make up her bed. Her clothing is brightly coloured while her earings are golden squares with blue centres. Everyone wears these earings but they are to display status. Tzekel Kan wears pure gold earings while the citizens of El Dorado wear mainly blue with a gold centre. God I am so bored right now she shouts, her voice echoing around her room. She knows no one will hear her because her temple stands 1,780 steps high. She has special slaves who carry her to and from her temple. Roxie cant understand why Tzekel Kan wont let her out to play with the children she sees in the streets of El Dorado playing a simple version of the ball game played in the square. Two teams have to knock the ball through the hoop on one wall and blocks of gold will be placed on one of 10 steps of the team who scores. This has to be all done before the shadow touches the line at the far end of the square. The winners are showered with gold while the losers are sacrficied. Roxie gets to see these ball games which is the only bit of excitment in her life. She likes to bet her earings on the team who wins. The ball games are once a month and Febuarys game has just passed. Roxie lets out a groan of bordem and exhasperation. I need some excitement now before I go insane she shouted. One of her servants ran into her room, huffing and puffing, out of breath. The servants are barebacked with only a robe to cover their legs and blue earings. The great ruler of El Dorado, Tzekel Kan requires your comapany at his temple said the servant, gasping frequently. Tzekel Kan has passed a law that all servants say the great ruler of El Dorado if the news comes from him. Roxie sighed but didnt complain. At least she gets to be out of her temple. She strode past the servant and began to walk down the 1,780 steps of her temple. It would give her something to occupy her mind while off to see the great ruler of El Dorado. 1,782 steps, not 1,780 Roxie counted. There were two steps than there have said to have been. Tzekel Kan emerges into the sunlight just as Roxie reaches the bottom step. Exciting news has befallen El Dorado he proclaims. Roxie felt like rolling her eyes. Whatever exciting news Tzekel had would be nothing to concern her. Unless Tzekels time was up and it was her turn to be leader. She could change the laws that have been laid out. They have been followed for 3 milleniums even since the first ancestors created El Dorado. Tzekel Kan lead Roxie through his temple and past his meditation pit and out through the back of the temple. The back of El Dorado was by far the most beautiful spot of the entire city. This is where the water comes direct from the waterfall outside. There are two totem poles standing beside the archway which leads to the open world. Docked on the key not far from the back of the temple are three rows of boats which are used to sail out to the totem poles to ensure they wont fall down. On the water, floating towards the back of the temple is a small rowing boat. As it floats closer, it is clear that its occupied. A male is either asleep or unconcious in the boat. Roxie guesses unconcious because of all the scars on his face and arms. The boat bumps gently onto the key. Tzekel Kan asks two servants to take the unconcious male up to a temple. Roxie intervenes. Actually, why dont I do it? she asked. Roxie was fed up and needed something to do. Tzekel Kan looked at her. A Princess does not do, she observes. Take her back to her temple orders Tzekel Kan. Two servants take the unconcious male up to one of the temples while two others take Roxie back to her temple. Her muscles are tensed as she feels really annoyed that her father doesnt let her do anything exciting. Once again, shes back in her room and fuming. When Roxie makes sure that the coast is clear, she heads out of her temple and makes her way to the temple she saw the male being carried to. He was lying on the silk sheet bed with a bandage around his arms and head. He makes muttering noises as he regains conciousness. He finally jerks his head up and looks around. Where am I? he asks himself. He then sees his bandages on his arms and feels the one around his forehead. Oh yeah. I remember he says to himself. He looks to his right and sees his clothes lying on a wooden table. A tweed jacket, red bow tie, black trousers and boots and a white shirt. He leaps off the bed and to his clothes. He digs inside the pockets of his jacket. He pulls out a strange looking silver and gold torch which he then puts back in and digs around inside another pocket. He pulls out a silver key and grins. Thrusting the key back into the pocket, he pauses and wiggles his fingers indicating he is unsure which pocket to look in next. He checked in another of the outer pockets and pulled out a strange looking object. The object in question was a box with wires linked all over it and some kind of diamond attatched to the bottom. There was a small fan atop the device which began to rotate when the man flicked a switch. He reached back into his jacket pockets and pulled out the silver and gold torch with a leather handle and green emitter. The torch began warbling and the green emitter began glowing. The diamond began shining and glowing and spinning. The small fan began spinning faster and faster and a high pitched warble was being released from it. Intrigued, Roxie stepped further inside the room. The man placed the device down on a golden table with a pile of gold plates and a gold statue in the middle of the table. He then stood back, flicked the torch which extended and pointing it at the device and as the torch began warbling and warping, the devices features were spinning dementodly. Come on girl. Lock onto me he whispered but Roxie heard. The silk sheets which had been gently blowing in the breeze suddenly began dancing around freakishly. The device was still warbling all throughout the sounds of metallic graiting. Roxies hair began whipping around her face and out of air, something large, blue and wooden appeared from nowhere. The metallic graiting and whooshing winds died down and all as the wooden tall box finished appearing. He stroked the smooth woodgrain of the blue box. Quite effectionatly thought Roxie. Well old girl. Looks like Ive found our new home said the man. He then looked right at Roxie. Roxie froze to the spot, her heart began skipping beats. The man smiled at her. You can come in if you want he said kindly. Cautiously, Roxie entered his room. Who are you? she asked. My name is the Doctor. Yours? said the Doctor. Roxie, daughter of the almight ruler of El Dorado, Tzekel Kan said Roxie with no attempt to disguise her sarcasm. The Doctor smiled a toothy grin. Roxie gestured at the blue box. What is this thing? she asked stepping closer to it. Its called the TARDIS said the Doctor. But what is it? asked Roxie with a much more pressing tone to her voice. A time machine answered the Doctor. Roxie wasnt gullible but seeing it appear like it did made her believe the accusation the Doctor made. Why are you here? asked Roxie. Ive been exiled by my own people. The TARDIS brought me to the outside of this place and I found a boat underneath the waterfall. I thought it might lead to civilisation and I was right but I felt weak and fell unconcious. When I came to, I was here explained the Doctor. Exiled? asked Roxie. Yes. No longer allowed to live on the same planet as my people or any other. They set the co-ordinates on the TARDIS to take me somewhere out of the way. And as a result, theyve changed the dematerialisation code on the TARDIS so I cannot fly her now. Which is why I have this said the Doctor presenting Roxie with the device he placed on the table earlier. What is that? she asked. TARDIS recall. No matter what the dematerialisation code, I can call her to me wherever I am explained the Doctor. Just then, two servants came huffing into the Doctors room. Princess Roxie, you should be in your temple said one. We must inform Tzekel Kan said the other. Both the servants were dressed like every other servant with the only difference being one of them wore a necklace with gold initials. The servants span on their heels and sprinted back down the horizontal stairs. Roxie moaned loudly. I hate my dad. He never lets me do anything. I always have to stay in my room and am only allowed out during feasts or special occasions. I am to take over when he dies and I plan to make plenty of changes to the aggenda when I come to power explained Roxie. The Doctor said nothing as he left Roxie to sit on the bed and sigh out all her anger. A buzzing noise distracted him. He pulled out the strange silver and gold torch which was blinking dementodly. He pressed it to his ear. listening to the pattern. Temporal Schism whispered the Doctor not looking pleased. Roxie didnt hear him, nor was she looking at him. She was too worried as to what her dad would do to her. He instructed her to stay in her temple. She diliberatly disobeyed her orders but maybe she wouldnt have if hed let her out of the temple every once in a while. Roxie made a choice. She was going to tell Tzekel Kan straight what her feelings were. And she wouldnt have long to wait. Tzekel Kan was now just a few steps away from seeing his daughter had disobeyed his orders. His figure cast a shadow on the wall and while the Doctor was pacing around, listening to the rhythms given off by his torch, Roxie stood bravely and waited till the words formed in her mind to say them. Father, I know youre angry for my disobeyment but I wouldnt have disobeyed you if you just let me out of that temple more often. Maybe everyday until sundown. I wont even go far, just stay in the streets where the children play said Roxie. Her bravery faultered as Tzekel Kan stood towering over her looking red with fury. The Doctor exclaimed which startled both Tzekel Kan and Roxie. He was now leaning against the TARDIS with his head resting on his arm. He was hissing air through his teeth. Whats wrong? asked Roxie, regaining her composure and pleased at the Doctors outburst. Im not complete. The change hasnt finished yet said the Doctor through gritted teeth. What change? asked Roxie confused and curious. The Doctor faced her. His hands glowed ever so slightly. The miracle of my people. They can change their appearence whenever their bodies are damaged. I was forced to change by my people and I fell unconcious earlier because Id only just finished changing explained the Doctor. Roxie scratched her head unsure of what to make of the Doctor. Was he telling the truth? Or did he have a blow to the head earlier which made him imagine all this? Tzekel Kan turned his attention to the TARDIS. And what is this? How did it get here? asked Tzekel Kan stepping closer to it. The Doctor dug out his TARDIS recall device from the inside of his jacket pocket. TARDIS recall explained the Doctor. Tzekel Kan scoffed. A muffled explosion which was unheard by Tzekel and Roxie but was heard by the Doctor ecohed around El Dorado. The Doctor ran to the enterance to the temple and looked down the many steps to see a cloud of smoke vanish in the air. A manic laugh sounded across the streets of El Dorado and though he was far away, the Doctor could clearly make out the shape of Taoite and his Iron Claws of Doom strapped to his back. The Doctor rolled his eyes. He turned and sprinted back to the TARDIS and vanished inside. The TARDIS vanished from inside the temple. Tzekel Kan was frozen to the spot with questions and bewilderment. Roxie took advantage of the distraction and sprinted down the steps and into the square where a large warthog creature was cackling his head off and yanking the straps on his backpack and the Iron Claws responded. Now, bring me the Time Lord bellowed Taotie. The citizens of El Dorado were all looking at one another, confused. Roxie bravely stepped foreward. Time Lord? she asked. Yes shouted Taotie. He pulled a small circular device from his belt. Light shone from the device and a red dot began blinking. I have detected his DNA at this city. Bring him to me or you will all suffer finished Taotie. The metallic grating startled all the citizens of El Dorado. Taotie began cackling manically again. The TARDIS materialised in the square with a thump to finish its appearence. Taotie screwed up his eyes which were locked onto the TARDIS. The door creaked open and the Doctor stepped out, his eyes locked on Taoties. OK Taotie. So you followed me here to El Dorado. What now? asked the Doctor who was now standing in the centre of the square staring up at Taotie. You will be humiliated for what you have done to me. Defeating my Sphere of Unairingly Accurate Accupressure, my Iron Bird of Uncalculable Retrobution and not forgeting my... Yeah yeah said the Doctor cutting Taotie off. The Doctor flicked out his gold and silver torch with a green light. Taotie laughed manically. And dont think your sonic device can stop me this time warned Taotie. Im not going to stop you. Just call up some help said the Doctor who held his device high and it emitted a loud and long buzzing sound. The doors to the TARDIS opened revealing 11 men, all dressed in strange clothes. Meet my other incarnations proclaimed the Doctor. The other Doctors lined up behind him and stood in a variety of different positions but all staring at Taotie. You are about to meet a very untimely end young fellow said the 1st Doctor pointing at Taotie with a cane. Taotie yanked the straps and the Iron Claws slashed down at the Time Lords. They all dived out of the way just in time. As the Iron Claws lifted, they regrouped behind the 10th Doctor. Doctors 9, 10, 11 and 12 flicked out their sonic screwdrivers. They all aimed them at Taotie. The Iron Claws made to slash down again but the screwdrivers whirred into life creating a blue and green orb which sheilded the Doctors. Their faces remained confident. The Iron Claws lifted again. The screwdrivers cut off just when the Doctors needed them most. The metal of the claws glinted in the blazing sun. The Doctors were slapping their screwdrivers to get them working again but to no avail. The Iron Claws slashed down! The Doctors moved out of the way just in time. The Claws made large handprints in the ground. 10 was now blowing on his screwdriver which made the emitter flash into life. 11 did the same and his screwdriver co-operated. 9 and 12s sonics were still offline and they had been blowing on theirs for a while now. Taotie cackled manically. Youre doomed Time Lord he yelled. Not quite shouted 10 holding his screwdriver aloft. The screwdrivers emitter glowed a steady blue and a peircing soundwave bounced around El Dorado. Taotie clasped his hands to his ears which left the Iron Claws vulnerable to control. 11, take control of the Claws bellowed 10. 11 swung into action, flicking his screwdriver open and aiming it at the Iron Claws. His screwdriver lit up green and emitted a lower soundwave which mixed in with 10s sonic soundwave. As Taotie had his hands clasped over his ears, even tighter now, the Iron Claws began freezing up as the soundwave from the sonic was destroying the lubricant between the joints, freezing up the fingers and wrists. 10s sonic switched off as did 11s. Taotie was now rolling around on the ground, his ears still ringing. The Iron Claws, frozen at all the joints, were crushed under the pressure of Taotie rolling around. All sonics ceased, not run out of power but 10 and 11 switched them off. Taoties ears were still ringing as he tried to stand and tried to use the straps on the backpack to thrust the Claws into action but the straps snapped, followed by a terrible crashing sound which he knew to well, his invention breaking apart and the sound of defeat. All the Doctors regrouped, 10 at the front, 11 and 12 behind him and the rest of them behind them. The Doctors struck a variety of stong poses, many had their arms folded and stared blankly at Taotie. Taotie began sobbing loudly. Youd think after all the times the Doctor has defeated him, hed be used to it by now and accept the fact that his inventions always fail him. The Doctors stood tall over Taotie, his misery not faulting them. 5, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 lifted their sonics and pointed them directly at Taotie. With all 5 sonics activated at the same time, their energies collided together which opened a swirling void. The force from the void sucked Taotie from El Dorado. All sonics switched off and the void vanished without a trace. The Doctors gathered round. So youre the latest model then? said 2 to 10. Yep answered 10. 11 and 12 looked at each other. What about us? they asked in syncronisity. Dont worry chaps. The Doctor hasnt regenerated into either of you yet explained 2. Well goodbye Doctor said 1 shaking 10s hand as he headed into the TARDIS followed by the rest of the Doctors in assending order. The doors closed after 12 gave 10 a stern look. The citizens of El Dorado were beside themselves. What was that? asked Roxie, stepping foreward only to be stopped by Tzekel Kan. My old enemy Taotie. Hes always inventing machines to take me down but I have something he doesnt. Previous incarnations explained 10. Tzekel Kan stepped foreward, tight lipped. Who are you? asked Tzekel Kan sternly. The Doctor headed back to the TARDIS. Im the Doctor. Im a Time Lord. Im front the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I am 903 years old and Im the man thats just saved all your lives said the Doctor in what sounded like one breath. Silence fell over El Dorado. You got a problem with that? he added. No replied Tzekel Kan. The Doctor disappeared into the TARDIS which disappeared without a trace. Roxie watched the whole thing. She would never forget the Doctors intrusion in her life. Its just what she needed. All she needed was for Tzekel Kan to die and then she could be in charge and change the way the citizens of El Dorado live. Inside his chest, Tzekel Kans heart slowed!
