Election Day Opportunity: One of the advantages of attending - TopicsExpress

Election Day Opportunity: One of the advantages of attending Oberlin College in the 70s was the extra-curricular Experimental College program, by which student generated classes were certified for low credits. I was privileged to enroll in the American Indian Culture class developed by Denise Brown and Hollis White, both Native American students at Oberlin. Both Russell Means and Dennis Banks came to speak at one class and we found them both to be intelligent, informed, of good will and hilarious. This is a lengthy exposition by Russell Means, who went on develop to a significant film career as an actor after leading the 71 day armed occupation of the Wounded Knee site in 1973, where Russell spends almost an hour detailing the devolution of the US economy into a state resembling the condition of the Native Americans who became a captive race subject to the European invasion of the continent. When you have an hour, take advantage of his insight into the economic and political conditions into which our US society had sunk. It is fair warning and no BS. Culture is about Values.
