Election is 8 months away. Potential candidates and their supporters all talk about a “national consensus candidate” and discussions have began. In reality, in most cases, negotiations about power sharing deals take place. Warlords are back at high demand. They are thought of being able to deliver votes and victory. Population in general and the youth in particular are taken for granted. Afghanistan of tomorrow must not be run by politics of fear, intimidation, division and deal making. The youth – the majority of our population and the true stakeholders - must not be used again. They should step in to shape the agenda and push for the politics of reform, hope and optimism. With unity and purpose it can be done.
