Election of the 2014-2015 MAYA Production Team To all budding scriptwriters, producers, stage managers and directors, MAYA is looking for its next big project and for that we want your help. As you know, the aim of MAYA is to facilitate youth in performing arts and so now we are giving you guys the opportunity to put your work onstage. For those of you who are interested, we are looking for proposals for our main production next year, which include elements of music and dance as well as acting. The subsequent MAYA Production Team is elected during the 3rd quarter of every year, following the conclusion of the MAYA Production of that year. Requirement of the Proposal Document Each production team must produce a Proposal Document including: • A statement of intent from the director on behalf of the Production team • A short outline of the production concept • The names of team members for the following key roles: o Director o Assistant Director(s) o Producer o Assistant Producer(s) o Scriptwriter(s) o Music Director(s) o Dance Choreographer(s) o Fundraising and Well-Being Initiative Team Member(s) • A short description of previous performing arts/leadership experience of relevant members of the team • Projected timeline for the project • A draft budget for the project • Plot summary with a scene by scene breakdown with a summary of key characters • A sample of the script – Preferably the opening scene • Strategies for marketing and sponsorship Formatting of the Proposal Document The proposal team may use a maximum of one serif font family and/or one sans-serif font family in their Proposal Document, with one to three levels of heading. The minimum font size in 10 points with no specified maximum. Only black type may be used and the Bid Document must be set on a white background at A4 paper size with margins of 3cm. Page numbers (right aligned) and the name of the Bid Team (left aligned) are permitted in the footer but no header context is allowed. Proposal Documents must be submitted to the MAYA Board of Directors by close of business on Sunday 28th September in Adobe Portable Document Format (.pdf) or alternatively, in Microsoft Word (.doc or docx) format. The proposal document must be submitted by email to mayaypa@gmail Printing of hardcopy versions is not essential. Proposal Procedure The MAYA Board of Directors will review all submitted proposals and identify successful proposal teams. These teams will be invited to pitch their proposal to the Board of Directors, including a presentation and question session. The pitch session will take please on October 4-5th and each team will be given: • 10 minutes to make a presentation and • 10 minutes to answer direct questions from the Directors Voting will subsequently be taken following the pitch session. Directors with a conflict of interest in relation to a proposal will be asked to abstain from the voting process. Don’t have a complete team or perhaps would like to join a team? Not a problem, MAYA will find interested people that are suitable to fill in the gaps. If you are having trouble with recruitment of the positions mentioned earlier let us know and we will try and put you in contact with possible candidates. With that in mind, if any of you out there have the skill or experience for one of those positions but dont want to plan a project send us an email with your preferred position and previous experience in that role and well try and put you in contact with a group that requires your particular skill set. MAYA is aimed at getting the wider youth involved in theatre; if you are interested in participating, even if you lack experience, please let us know and we’ll find some way to get you involved.
