Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My - TopicsExpress

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. James 3:10 Why is it our words are so important? Surely it is because of the direction they can give to life. James likens them to the bit that guides the horse and the helm that guides the ship. How insignificant they may seem. the bit is tiny compared with the size of the horse and so is the helm compared with the size of a ship. We may think our words are so tiny and insignificant that they do not matter. They tumble out of our mouths like snowflakes out of the sky, and just as the snowflake falls on to the river and vanishes so we think our words just disappear, but they do not. They may seem insignificant, but they are important. They give directions to life. This is true in the experience of the individual soul as well as of society. Possibly one of the greatest needs today is for the Christian Church to become vocal. In the Psalm we read, Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, which might be translated freely, Let Christians speak out. The tragedy is that too often fear silences our tongues, and no direction is given to those who need it so badly.
