Elections Are No Solution 4 May 2013 at 17:00 Repeated and timely elections without army intervention will institutionalize democracy and after one or two decades we will be enjoying the outcomes like security , justice and corruption free society with all human rights ,good foreign policy and self sovereignty .A false ideology it is. A delusion is it. In a country, which is yet to be defined as a country, with more than 148 political parties with so many religious, regional, racial and linguistic divisions and stakes, this belief is laughable stuff. Moreover what we label as democracy is nothing but a fraud with this well reputed institution. Shuffling of same looters is the onlychoice left with the system .As the law itself is furnished by these looters who have the common trait of loot, it allows the family parties like Bhutto family,Sharif family,Chaudhary family,Khar family ,Laghari family ,Bughti family and so on to remain a permanent part of the show .They can play with democracy till their deaths and their successors come on the front to resume. These parties have no line of action except their own benefits .They can cause any loss to the state and save their stake. They will rule this country for eons if no revolutionary reforms made. Law allows a person to become prime minister for thousand times .Parities are free from intra party elections. Finally elected members are bidden and governments are made. Such governments influence the military bureaucracy and intervene their promotions .These governments are toppled by their own promoted military dictators. A true power game continues and state sovereignty is sacrificed by flexible and ever changing undefined foreign policy. One time’s mujaheddin are other time’s terrorists. As these governments are by default weak and selfish so they undergo all underground deals like drown attacks, entry of foreign spying agencies etc .They loot state’s resources, tax returns, make properties in the country and abroad and apply for foreign aid and lethal loans in the name of wars like war against terrorism, war against red revolution and so on. The infrastructure of ruling tycoons comprises the criminals who actually harass voters to vote for their bosses. They are actual forces who commit murders, rapes, abductions , ransoms, blackmailing .They administer and manage crimes in their respective areas to strengthen their sponsors. Police stations, educational institutions, judiciary, all are influenced by them. So criminals, law enforcing agencies, law itself and politicians, they all are a part of the chain. Fair and honest entities have to surrender, submit, compromise or resign otherwise they are lessoned .Bosses live in Islamabad and other big cities and their paid ones take care of their benefits in towns. In election days they visit their constituencies with innocent faces and old promises. Masses have to vote for their survival. This is snapshot of so called democracy in Pakistan. Elections are no solution to the problem and problem is not single, it is a spectra, it dates back. We could talk about any positive change if we had satisfactory past with a good beginning .Did we have real democracy ever since partition? Over the 66 years of rotten hide and seek and Tom and Jerry show, should we expect any meaningful change? Democracy is an institution and a finite recipe, the past governments and would be governments can never be labeled as democratic ones as we lost our roots right in beginning. No doubt so called freedom was not more than an extension of colonial era. Muhammad Ali Jinnah died, nawabs took the charge and show began. In fact we had a bad rather no beginning. Here began the story. Years of atrocities, loot, experiments, familial politics, replication of so called political parties, military regimes and lawlessness can never lead to real change in the country without emergency political reforms. In fact bringing a legitimate change in Pakistan is equivalent to making a new country .Making anew country means getting freedom which is not possible without acknowledging that we are slaves or captured ones. Getting Pakistan was the result of movement against colonialism. Where is the masses’ movement for getting freedom from extension of colonial era of 66 years? There is no such movement so there will be no new Pakistan .Without complete suspension of the prevailing game show by the masses or by the combined military and judiciary action (if these two institutions are sincere) with complete design of political reforms, no change should be expected. Many would object that these two institutions are the product of same colonial continuum so expectation is vague .Seconding them I accept that I still have this phantasm otherwise another movement for a country with a Quaid like leadership is required. For the peace we are planning in this writing, bloodshed is a must content. Are we in process of any of these two solutions? No we are actually going to have new elections and democracy similar to the old ones which would bring more deterioration, killings, rapes, submissions, devaluations, drowns, insecurities .How pathetic our freedom is? A realistic approach is the only key to solution. Living is recognizing your problems defining and fixing your objectives and then working out the solution. Before we grasp the facts what actually happened to Muslims of India, a broader approach we can have a narrower approach to what happened to the Muslims of Pakistan after partition---------------------------------------(tobe continued)----------remain with me-----------Dr Abrar Umar
