Eleven years ago today, I was blessed to exchange wedding vows with my best friend, Manie Lucia. It has been a crazy ride, which Fr. Stefan Starzynski probably anticipated when he procured permission for us to marry on the Feast of All Saints - he figured wed need all of their prayers. At times, we have, but for the most part, it has been a melody written by God that only two hearts can fully hear. Four children here, six in Heaven, three houses, four jobs among the two of us, four dogs, a couple of fish, welcoming new members of our family and wishing tearful farewells to others, and we are still here, and still one heart and one flesh, as it was meant to be. Happy anniversary to my Manie, the song in my heart and the light of my eyes. If someone had told me a dozen years ago that this was what my life would be today, I would have signed a TDO on him or her - because never did I know that from the ashes of a lifetime of destructive decisions could come such all-encompassing joy from giving myself completely to you - and having you give yourself completely to me in return. You are my greatest blessing, my strength, my unmerited gift from God. I love you.
