Eli El-Chantiry, 21, who shares the same name with his uncle who represents West Carleton-March faces charges for an incident that allegedly occurred at an Algonquin Student Association planning meeting. Coun. El-Chantiry confirmed the charges but wouldn’t comment on them because of a publication ban surrounding the complainant’s name in the case. “He’s 21 years old, he’s my nephew and he lives on his own,” The Algonquin Times reported that El-Chantiry is no longer a student at Algonquin College, where he had been elected as president to head the Student Association in 2013-2014. The incident was alleged to have occurred in Brockville during the summer.
