Eliminating Corruption in Nigeria: Reducing Pressure One effective way to reduce or even eliminate corruption in our society is to reduce the PRESSURE at all levels! It is really scary to note that almost all of us are either collecting bribes, embezzling (public funds, doubling prices, cheating one another) or contemplating of committing such acts, everyday!!!. And the fact still remains that , we are good people, this is true because we have demonstrated it in many ways, for instance ( both the leaders and the leads ) have given to poor and encouraging such persistently ....The question now is that, why will people like the, e.g (politicians, pastors, Mechanics, lecturers , teachers, bankers, family members, force men & women and etc) will want to do harm to the society? Well, one of the reason I uncovered is that, we are constantly under pressure, and naturally as humans, we want to survive, we want to live, we want to be happy....... which means that will explore all available means to achieve these things (survival, happiness) regardless of the consequences (this relative)....so in my opinion, policies that will reduce pressure, will in effect reduce corruption. For example, Increasing salary may not eliminate bribe taking, however, reducing the cost of living (like granting students loans or even free education) may perform magic, like reducing corruption. In short, we are committing corruption related crimes everyday, but the prisons is still empty, why? the policemen that should enforce the law are under pressure (e.g pressure from in-laws, pressure from family members, pressure as result of hike in tuition fees of kids), also , judges that should make fair and unbiased judgement are also under same pressure .....In essence, reducing the pressures at all levels may surprisingly yield positive results with regards to corruption.
