Elk hunting was awesome! Hunted through some absolutely gorgeous country, Ive never seen Eagle Rock from the back side before or from above! Steep, deep and thick, the elk love to hang out in the vine maple and re-prod( re-planted timber) and move from meadow to meadow. Close again, but no jerky. I want to acknowledge the wonderful hospitality, friendship and hunting advice of the Hopper/ Hansen Families ( they are celebrating a wedding up there in elk camp today!) I have new friends and had a great hunting experience! My hunting pard, Jen Hollister and I walked side-hill, down- hill, up-hill, down-hill and more of each but then we walked out into a power line corridor right where were supposed to be. Walking out on the cat-road we met the ranch owner, Mark and his dogs. After chatting with us for a while, he even offered to let us hunt on his property. The other night we shared an MRE - it was okay and interesting to see what is included with the meal - a red Tuscano went well. Jen took lots of pictures which I cant wait to see. During the long quiet moments when one is waiting for one of these amazing animals to make a mistake, you really have a lot of time to think. One of the thoughts that occurred to me was that Abraham Lincoln would have loved Bob Marley.
