Ella García will be in a recital of the voice students of Donna - TopicsExpress

Ella García will be in a recital of the voice students of Donna Olson on Saturday evening, 29 November 2014. Ella is preparing for two solo numbers (arias), and two duets. Donna Olson is a classical vocal music teacher, an opera performer (mezzo-soprano with West Edge Opera in 2014), and a faculty member of vocal music at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga. Having heard the practice sessions so far, I know that Ella and her duet partner will each do a lovely job. Having heard Donna’s students in previous recitals, I know that the lineup will acquit itself well on the 29th. There is no charge for the audience (the student support system takes care of that). The show is scheduled for 4:30 PM to 6 PM, at the Piedmont Center for the Arts (801 Magnolia Avenue, Piedmont, CA 94611), and there should be adequate (free) street parking nearby. A simple reception (potlucked by the support structure) follows immediately from 6 PM to 7 PM. This recital is an opportunity for the voice students to enjoy showing the world how they personally have put together all they have been learning and practicing in their art. Donna is a great teacher who puts her whole heart into her art (Ella loves her). Donna, unusually, sang at the end of a 2012 recital by her students, because the host had requested that as part of the use of the facilities, and it was an opportunity for Donna to honor one of her childhood friends who was dying far away. That recording is here: Come The Wild, Wild Weather, for Cathi (22 June 2012) youtu.be/I6mIeYkmBHQ
