Ellis Announcements for April 25, 2014 The Second Annual Dodge Hunger Dodge Ball Tournament to benefit Back Pack Buddies, will be held tonight at 6:00pm in the high school gym. Teams should arrive at 5:30pm to register. In addition to the Civil War Reenactment in Plattsburg this weekend, there is a teepee set up by the post office in town which contains artifacts and information about Indian and train history of this area. Today from 3:15 -5:30pm, the kids will be able to make clay pots, weave baskets, churn butter, and grind corn. Library over-due notices were sent home today. Please look for those books and return. Parents: As field trips approach, please remember not to bring siblings if you are chaperoning. Thank you! MAP testing has begun! The schedule is below. Please make sure your children go to bed early enough to get the required sleep they need and arrive to school on time. If your child comes in late, he/she will wait in the office until the testing session is complete. 4/28: 3rd – 5th grades beginning at 8:45am 4/29: 3rd - 5th grades beginning at 8:45am 4/30: 3rd grade beginning at 9:35am 5/1: 3rd - 5th grades beginning at 8:45am 5/2: 3rd – 5th grades beginning at 8:45am MAP Spirit Week (although MAP is for 3-5th grades, PreK-2 are welcome to participate!): Monday, April 28th- #1 Rule in constructing our knowledge- make sure you have “RED” all the directions. Tuesday, April 29th- Don’t be BLUE, we’re building our future Wednesday, April 30th- Mellow YELLOW Relax, we are halfway done. Thursday, May 1st- Others will be GREEN with envy over our building blocks of knowledge. Friday, May 2nd- ORANGE you glad we have finished our construction. Spring pictures and/or money are due on Tuesday, April 29th. Any sheets that you do not pay for must be returned uncut. The last day of school is on Wednesday, May 21st and we will be dismissing at 11:30am so we will not have a late start that day. We will be conducting End of Course tests and Map field tests online. In order to insure we have enough bandwidth for the online testing the public wireless internet access will be suspended on the following dates from 8:00a.m. to 3:00p.m: April 29-30 and May 6-8th. Please continue to look at the “Looking Ahead” dates below. Often there are changes. The Hy-Vee coupon books that were sold through the PTA Fundraiser indicate that they are only valid in St. Joseph. The booklets were printed incorrectly and are accepted at the Liberty, Gladstone, and Barry Road locations. If a cashier at these 3 stores does not accept the coupons, have them contact the store manager. DRESS CODE: As the weather starts to get warmer, please remember to follow the dress code. Shorts and skirts must be no shorter than fingertip length with your hands at your sides and all tops must have 2” wide straps over both shoulders. The dress code will be enforced so please dress appropriately for school. Parents, please have your child to school on time. We have the biggest amount of tardies on late-start Wednesdays. You are invited to Wings Over Weston at Weston Bend State Park on Saturday, May 10th. It is free! There will be games, arts & crafts, and guided bird hikes and more! The district has a Recognition Committee and they are putting together a list of staff members and/or Administrators that have given 20 years and retired from CCR3. Ellis is continuing the pop tab competition for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of KC in memory of Addison Faith Gudde for the 4th quarter. The winning class will have a pop party!
