Em entrevista aos XANDRIA ficámos a saber um pouco mais sobre o grupo. Os seus projetos, ideais, como reinventam-se enquanto grupo. Quem são os XANDRIA? We sometimes wonder the same. We have gone through so many difficult stuff in the last 5 years that it can be only our most basic survival instinct that kept us alive as a band – and our struggle make our dreams real, whatever comes our way. I never tire of referring: A group wins with a very good performance on stage: The XANDRIA show a good job behind the scenes We like to perform live very much and we give all our energy on stage to share it with the fans – so this is very important for us. But the underlying thing that makes it all possible is the creation of new music – new songs, new albums. And for us this is not only for making all the other things possible. We are doing it for the vision that comes alive with the music. We have our style, but we don´t feel we are restricted or forbidden to do things we want to do. I think we have a lot of freedom in what we are doing, more than bands in some other genres. Because the vision of Xandria is not to fulfill certain genre rules or defined by certain sound elements, the vision is to create a big, imaginary universe, a world we and our listeners can travel to – like watching a good movie! And all the more tangible elements we use, like classic and modern metal, soundtrack arrangements, folk influences, are only parts to create this vision. There can be anything if it leads to the voyage we want to set the listener on… Which musical style by which they are governed XANDRIA? Have some group that had inspired for this style? Many groups have at it. To say “symphonic metal” “soundtrack metal” etc. is absolutely appropriate. Of course Nightwish is a big influence, but also many other bands like Judas Priest, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera – all the classics! And we are also heavily influenced by movie scores from composers like Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, Howard Shore and others. The path taken so far would change anything? We would not change anything in what Xandria is now. But there are surely things in the past we would do in a different way today, like being more wise in business issues to not being fleeced by some people and companies. But what can you do. In the beginning you are very naïve… What is the project that gave more enjoyment to be done by XANDRIA? The last album and all the concerts we had since the release of it. Projects for the future? Recording a new album and playing live as much as possible. Maybe one day we will also record a live DVD / BluRay, but there had been no good opportunity to do this yet. We are still waiting for it. The Portuguese public cries for your presence. For when a show in Portugal? We try to get to our fans all around the world as good as we can. We just have played in Portugal last year with Epica. But it is very hard to set up an own headliner tour, it is very expensive. Local promoters have to book the band for their country, a band can´t just come and play because they would like to. So we would need bookers who are interested in getting Xandria to Portugal, and this can only happen when there are many fans in Portugal. So people, please spread the word about Xandria and it can happen! We will give our very best to see all you guys in Portugal as soon as possible then! And when they come into the studio to present us with another good album? We have planned to produce a new album this year so there should be a release next year!
