DEV OPS/RELEASE ENGINEER Description The Dev Ops/Release Engineer directs and coordinates the building and deployment of proprietary web-based educational testing applications used by clients. The Dev Ops/Release Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, cost-effectiveness, capacity, and performance of operating systems, networks, proprietary software applications, and servers that support those applications. The principle focus of this role will be code and configuration releases of multiple web applications and suites of applications. Additional responsibilities include the following Implement and maintain the deployment process to deliver repeatable, consistent software deployments to multiple environments and clients. Work with software engineers to ensure scalable, monitored, and manageable solutions. Coordinate with multiple development, QA, and infrastructure teams (some remote) to successfully deploy high-availability, customer-facing applications under tight deadlines. Identify gaps and proactively improve the deployment process: support and improve continuous integration and document standard operating procedures. Research and evaluate new methods and technology to support development efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience with server system and administration with a minimum of two years managing complex releases of multiple web applications: or associate’s degree and seven years of experience. Enterprise experience with Windows Server platforms: 2003, 2008. Experience with Microsoft IIS 6.0 and IIS 7.5. Experience with SQL Server 2005/2008. Experience with VMware ESX 3.5 and 4.0. Windows security background especially as it pertains to website environment. Scripting skill (PowerShell, NANT, WMI, VBScript, ADSI, MSBuild, MS Web Deploy) Familiarity with Visual Studio, ASP.NET and C# a plus. Exposure to Java web environments a plus. (Linux and Apache Tomcat) Flexible and able to learn quickly in a dynamic environment. Expert level problem-solving and root cause analysis skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Team player willing to learn and able to work with other team members. Good project management skills.
