Lachesis comes to us from Greek mythology. She is the apportioner of time, who decides how much is allotted for the lifespan, and measures the thread of life with her rod. She offers a lesson about destiny and karma and promises that all of life has meaning and purpose. As one of the daughters of Nyx, or night – she can teach you destiny is revealed in the messages that come from your dreams. She is also described as the daughter of Necessity, showing how the life path is always a learning experience that allows you to embrace what you need. She would teach you that the wheel of life is not a random turning – but composed of the potentials that will activate your life purpose. You may feel that you are not an important part of creation, although you have a unique part to play in life that is unlike what anyone else can fulfill. She is one of three Moirae or Fates, where Clotho spins the thread of life from her spindle and Atropos cuts it. In between, a thread runs through all of experience, unwinding itself as your life journey. Take comfort in the fact that path is cultivating you. If you are feeling disconnected from life – her message is to cherish each moment as an integral part of your journey. She seems to say that life is an opportunity for your complete manifestation – self realization grows like a tree from a seed within you. How is it that destiny is revealed to you? Dream interpretation reveals the hero’s journey where bizarre clues come forward that can show you where you need to go. Through experience, you may be drawn to others in the ways you are alike, yet your unique nature is revealed in the ways that you are different.
