Emergency Warming Centers Are Open! There are two warming centers open now for the cold season months!!! 1. Cass Community Social Services, Inc. (Cass) will open its Warming Center TODAY, November 15 at 4pm. The Warming Center has capacity to serve 50 women and children and/or single women, and it will be open each night from 4:00pm to 8:00am through March 31, 2014. In addition to a safe and secure place to live, Cass provides the Warming Center women and children: Oversight (Cass staff) for security for all hours of operation; Clean mats, linens and blankets to sleep; Two meals each day (dinner and breakfast); Snacks for Diabetics and children; and, Laundry services if necessary. This Warming Center is located at the Cass Church at 3901 Cass Avenue at Selden, in the middle of the Cass Corridor. Walk-ins welcome. Cass will also take referrals from all sources including the Police, Schools, other Service Providers, 2-1-1, etc. For more information, call (313) 833-7730 during hours of operation (4pm to 8am). 2. Operation Get Down (OGD) opened its Warming Center this week. The Warming Center has capacity to serve over 100 single males and females and/or families with children. This Warming Center is located at 6821 Medbury. Transportation to and from the warming center is provided between 6:30pm and 7:45pm; pick-up is at NSOs Tumaini Center.
