Emmy Award-winning television show host, entrepreneur and bestselling author to end Northern Insights series for 2013 Martha Stewart to speak in Fort McMurray December 4th, 2013. (Fort McMurray, June 12, 2013) Martha Stewart, raised in a family with six children, she developed her passion for cooking, gardening and home-keeping at an early age. Her mother taught her the basics of cooking, baking, canning, and sewing; her father introduced her to gardening at the age of three. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history and architectural history at Barnard College. Upon graduating, she became a stockbroker on Wall Street, where she gained her early business training. After marrying, she developed a catering business that showcased her remarkable talent and originality. Her unique visual presentation of food and the elegant recipes she created for her catered events were the basis for her first book in 1982 – since then she has authored 78 books, including many best sellers. Tickets will go on sale for Martha Stewart on October 23rd. As usual, the Library will hold a draw for ten pairs of tickets to the event. Winners of this draw will be notified one week before tickets go on sale. As you can imagine, we here at the Library are very happy to welcome Martha Stewart to Fort McMurray. And this time, we are doing something a little different. On the afternoon of December 4th, we are offering a special Library program – Martha Stewart will be teaching a 45 minute class with a Christmas Craft. Only 50 tickets will be sold for the Class. We are offering a package for this event, which will include the class, a buffet of hot hors d’oeuvres and one glass of wine, and one premium seat to the Field House event. (Ms. Stewart will not attend the buffet.) In order to allow everyone to have a chance at this unique opportunity, The Library will be holding a lottery for the CHANCE to buy one Class package. Only one package will be sold per person for $259.00. Those who win the chance to buy will be notified one week before tickets go on sale, so that they can plan appropriately. Again – we will sell one Class Package per person. If that person wishes to purchase additional tickets to the Field House presentation, they will be allowed to do so. But only one seat in the Class. Finally, after her time on stage, The Library has arranged for a book signing. The Library will have books for sale, or you may bring an item of your own. This will be on a first-come, first-signed basis, and Martha will sign one item per person.
