Empirical research starts from the level of empirical material - TopicsExpress

Empirical research starts from the level of empirical material collection, where researchers make observations, talk to people, and create their own portraits of the empirical phenomena. Preliminary interpretations are developed, whose scope is often relatively limited or somewhat unclear to the researchers themselves. This material is then subjected to further interpretation of a more systematic kind, guided by ideas that can be related to theoretical frameworks or to other frames of reference residing in the researchers’ minds. Ideally, researchers allow the empirical material to inspire, develop, and reshape theoretical ideas. Retrieved from IJQM Dialogical Principles for Qualitative Inquiry: A Nonfoundational Path
