Employees spend half of their time at work; therefore it is necessary for them to respect each other for proper functioning in a comfortable and quiet environment. The top 10 mistakes employees should avoid: 1. Refusing to ask for help which indicates the spirit of teamwork, especially for new employees who are often afraid to ask for help from experts which impedes work progress at the company. 2. Excelling over the employer, especially for new employees who seek to show their skills and become distinguished. 3. Arriving late at work. When being late, a valid excuse should be provided, because respecting time shows self-respect and respect for others, the company and the society. 4. Refusing to learn from old colleagues who have experience. 5. Fear of making mistakes. No one is infallible and according to the late writer Khalil Gibran: “Those who don’t work don’t make mistakes”. However, the mistake should be the result of an effort not due to laziness. 6. Failure to acknowledge one’s mistakes. Employees should acknowledge their mistakes and apologize; this indicates a strong personality. 7. Not accepting criticism, different opinions or reactions. 8. Bad behavior, such as anger, screaming and cursing. 9. Gossiping with employees, therefore creating tension and hatred among employees. 10. Discriminating between generations. In most companies there are four age groups. Therefore the 70 year old veteran employee should talk with the 20 year old new employee in his language, and vice versa.
