It requires extensive mandatory overnight and weekend travel. Lodging will be in local area in the nearest proximity to travel locations. Lodging and subsistence expenses are reimbursed up to a set amount in each area. TRAVEL REQUIRED: 50% or Greater. Travel is 50% of the time. RELOCATION AUTHORIZED: No KEY REQUIREMENTS: This position will require Mandatory overtime DUTIES: Serves as Marine Electrician in the Revetment Section and installs, repairs and maintains all electrical equipment located on a large self-sustained floating plant. Plans and lays out work, interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, sketches etc., and requisitions material through supervisors. Directs the work of lower-grade employees assigned to assist and requests technical assistance of other Marine Electricians on major deficiencies or breakdowns when required. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Ability to do the work of an Electrician without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet this screen-out element to be considered further. Applicants should document their experience in work involving installing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment such as motors, engines, generators, outlets, conduit, switches, breakers, circuits, coils, commutators, starters, ignition systems, refrigeration systems, communication systems, etc. Physical effort: Electrical workers at this grade make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard-to-reach places. This requires electrical workers him to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Electrical workers frequently lift and carry tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds) and, less often, up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Occasionally, they lift or move with assistance moderately heavy objects weighing more than 18 kilograms. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in weather that is occasionally disagreeable; dirt and grease are frequently encountered; caused by working on equipment, in marine hulls, and barge compartments; noise hazards frequently require the use of hearing protection, caused by working in and around engine and generators located in holds of floating plant, fumes and smoke are frequently encountered; and the wearing of a helmet is occasionally unpleasant. Incumbent is constantly exposed to electrical hazards while working on AC and DC electrical systems. Journeyman Electrician License is Required. Other Requirements: This position requires a minimum of 2 years on the job training in Commercial and Industrial Electrical Environments.
