Emstrey Fishery Car Park ONE SAF instigated the planned major improvements in relation to parking facilities at this fishery. The farm access and second car park work looks as though they will be done in unison by accident. Farm car park access improvements were to bridge from the yard to the car park with 25 ton of 25 ml stone, this in fact has been completed, a big improvement on the muddy dip of previous. Phase two in conjunction with Shropshire Council is the resurfacing of the yard itself by some six to eight inches of new concrete. The inclusion which we fought for was the introduction of cattle grids, thus doing away with the gates, which has always been a bone of contention by anglers. However although sanctioned, work was to commence during October and for some reason failed to start. I am awaiting an update on the schedule as I write and will update as and when. Car Park TWO SAF instigated a request for increased parking facility on this site, once agreed with Longnor estate the estate were approached by our neighbour Asset Surfacing and it was agreed that both parties could extend into the field both entities. Asset Surfacing will double the current land holding. SAF will have parking for some twenty vehicles, with the existing car park becoming the entrance to the new facility. An added bonus will be the entrance being gated and padlocked. The reasoning for the gated parking is that the fishery is not intended as a Day Permit Fishery primarily due to difficulties in bailiff ability. Thus to be Annual Permit Holder with the exception of competition / contest angling, when the gate would be left unlocked for the duration of a contest. This particular matter was discussed by joint SAF / SAMC meeting and agreed.
