End of Watch Alert.... We mourn the death of Officer Nickolaus Schultz of the Merrillville (Indiana) Police Department. Officer Shultz was shot and killed while investigating reports of an evicted tenant moving back into a condominium. The suspect was wearing body armor. He exchanged fire with officers and Officer Schultz was struck in the head. The suspect suffered a fatal gunshot wound at the scene. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, fellow officers and friends of Officer Schultz. We have the watch from here, brother. Rest in peace....Chief Oliver and Staff.
