End of a long day. Booksigning was good. Lots of people with lots of imput-[talking at me-by the middle of the afternoon, I was ready to put my head down on the desk and nap]. Sort of brisk day, but sunny - just picture post card beautiful out in rolling pristine hills, with a sort of a last bloom of the fall on everything [sometimes I see unexpected beauty here in the country-not the in-your-face glorious tropical beaches like I saw all those years in Guam but more subtle glory, maybe better because not expected]. Met more people than I could keep track of, sold some books, and someone even gave me a pumpkin! Bill Hopkins had his brand new book there, and gave us a signed addition to our hoard. Jim, of course, has claimed it for his late night reading-in-bed thing. Got Subways on the way home, then apologized profusely to our three roommates, and spent an evening snuggled by the wood burning heat stove and sleeping before a rousing game of whatever on the tube.
