Enders Game This message is from my friend Steve. Dad was a left-wing author, an American dissident. He was blacklisted and under constant surveillance by the Justice Department, the FBI and god knows who else. Our phones were tapped. They tried to take away Dads passport. Informants surrounded our family. One informant came every week to clean and reported regularly to the FBI, but we found that later when Dad got his files under the Freedom of Information Act. The files came in three large cardboard boxes, filled to their brims. Once, as a child, I was followed home from school by an unmarked black car for several weeks, just to harass our family. Later, in life, I also faced a blacklist of sorts. So why do I write this now? Enders Game, thats why. The author of Enders game is Orson Scott Card, an avowed homophobic right wing zealot. He is a racist. Just look up his views. I will fight anyone who tries to censor Cards work. If they can do it to him, they can justify doing it to my father also. Book burning done by any side is book burning. But I will boycott Enders movie and will never buy a book. While he has the right to write and to publish, I have the right not to add one dime to his bank account, to give him comfort or to further his views in any way. So, to sum it up: I urge all people who believe in equality and justice to boycott Enders Game. --steve
