Energy efficient homes can cut electric bills in half, or more if comparing to a home older than 10 years.(like mine! Lol) I looked into the solar panels, WITH the rebate from the electric co. , it still represented a $15k-$20k expense , and that didnt cover the entire energy bill, only $250 of it...in effect , reducing the monthly expense by $0 over the 1st 10 years. Silly. The panels are great after they are paid for, and by then, you need to be replacing older stuff in the home. A brand new home is the way to go . ;)
